FAQs
Does one inverter provide 120V or 240V output?
A single V-US-6.5kW provides 120V single-phase pure sine wave output, rated at 6,500W continuous power with 9,750VA peak power. It does not independently provide 240V output. Choose appliances and backup circuits that match the configured output voltage.
Can I use two units for 120/240V split-phase power?
Yes. The manual describes multi-unit split-phase operation for the P version. At least two compatible units, correctly configured with a 180-degree phase relationship, can provide 120V line-to-neutral and 240V line-to-line. This requires the specified communication connections and coordinated system setup; simply adding another inverter in same-phase parallel mode does not create 240V.
What household appliances can it run?
A single unit can support compatible 120V refrigerators, lighting, computers, networking equipment, TVs, and other household appliances. Total running demand must remain within 6.5kW, and motor startup demand must fit the inverter and battery limits. A single unit cannot directly run appliances that require 240V, such as many dryers, central air conditioners, and well pumps.
Which batteries are compatible?
The inverter is designed for a 48V battery system and supports compatible lead-acid and lithium batteries. The documented battery operating range is 40–60V, with a 44V minimum starting voltage. Lithium battery selection must match the supported battery settings and BMS communication protocol. A matching RJ45 connector alone does not establish compatibility.
Can one 100Ah lithium battery supply the full 6.5kW output?
Battery capacity in amp-hours does not determine its maximum output current. At 48V, 6.5kW requires approximately 135A before inverter losses; the manual lists 153A rated battery discharge current for this model. A single battery with a 100A continuous BMS cannot supply full inverter output. Choose a battery bank with adequate continuous and startup current capability. Runtime depends on usable energy: 10kWh at a steady 2kW load is about 5 hours before conversion losses.
How many solar panels can I connect?
The inverter supports two MPPT inputs, each rated for up to 4,500W and 22A, for 9,000W total maximum PV input. Panel count depends on module voltage, current, and power. The 90–260V MPPT range and 300V maximum PV open-circuit voltage must be respected, including the voltage increase in cold weather. The 9kW solar input rating does not increase the inverter's 6.5kW AC output rating.
Why might the inverter not start charging from a small solar string?
The manual lists a 120V PV startup voltage, while the MPPT operating range is 90–260V. A string that is too short or has insufficient voltage under actual conditions may not meet startup requirements. Plan string length using panel specifications and temperature conditions; the 300V maximum open-circuit voltage is an upper limit, not a target operating voltage.
What are the AC and solar charging limits?
Maximum battery charging current is 120A from AC and 150A from solar. The combined AC-plus-solar charging limit is 150A, not 270A. Actual charging can be lower because of available input power, battery voltage, BMS limits, or settings. Set charging current and voltage to match the battery manufacturer's requirements.
Can it work without a battery, and what happens during an outage?
The manual supports operation without a battery using solar and utility power. Without batteries, there is no stored energy for night-time backup or periods of insufficient solar. For dependable outage backup, use compatible battery storage and correctly configured backup circuits. The manual lists a typical 10ms transfer between bypass and inverter operation; check whether sensitive equipment can tolerate that interruption.
Can I connect a generator?
Yes. A compatible generator can supply the AC input to power loads and charge the battery. This model's rated AC input is 120V. Generator voltage, frequency, available power, and charging settings must match the installation. Utility and generator supplies require appropriate source selection; they must not be connected together indiscriminately.
How many inverters can operate in parallel?
The SPI4865M150-300P supports up to six compatible units. The SPI4865M150-300 without P does not support parallel operation. The manual describes same-phase and multi-phase arrangements. Use matching models, compatible firmware, and the specified parallel communication and current-sharing connections. Battery and phase arrangements must follow the relevant installation diagram.
What is the CT sensor for, and can the inverter export to the grid?
A compatible CT sensor measures power flow for supported self-consumption and anti-backflow functions. The manual describes hybrid operating modes, but some functions are configuration-dependent. A CT sensor or anti-backflow setting does not establish utility export approval. Although the parameter table references UL 1741, confirm documentation for the exact supplied model and utility acceptance before planning export or net metering.
What is the bypass rating?
For the 6.5kW model, the manual lists 60A maximum bypass overload current and a 63A bypass circuit breaker. These are separate specifications; neither means the inverter has a 200A service pass-through rating. Rated inverter output remains 6.5kW. Size the AC supply and downstream circuits for the complete installation.
Can I monitor it from my phone?
Yes, with a compatible optional Wi-Fi module, a supported monitoring service, and a network connection. The manual supports viewing operating parameters and device status through an app. The pictured interface also shows energy flow and reports; available features depend on the module and software version. Check your selected package for module inclusion.
What are the installation dimensions and temperature limits?
The inverter measures 540 × 350 × 120mm, or 21.26 × 13.78 × 4.72 inches, and weighs 18.5kg (40.79 lb). It uses variable-speed fan cooling, with noise listed at up to 60dB. The specification table gives -10°C to 55°C, while the mounting section recommends 0°C to 55°C for optimal operation. Confirm suitability before planning a subfreezing installation, and provide the specified ventilation clearance.
What protection functions are included?
Built-in safeguards include overvoltage, undervoltage, overload, output short-circuit, overtemperature, and PV reverse-polarity protection. Reverse-polarity protection applies to the solar input; a reversed battery connection can blow the internal fuse. Correct wiring, grounding, and external protective devices are still required.
Which accessories are included?
The package image shows the inverter with a manual, inspection certificate, service card, Wi-Fi module, one split-core CT sensor, parallel communication cable, current-sharing detection cable, dust filters, and mounting accessories. Refer to the accessory list for your selected package to confirm final contents. Batteries, panels, and site wiring should not be assumed to be included.
Can I schedule charging and discharging?
The manual provides time-based charging and discharging settings and selectable charging priorities, including solar-only, utility-priority, solar-priority, and combined charging. Set the operating periods, charging current, and battery reserve to match your usage and backup needs. Available behavior depends on the selected operating mode and configuration.
